Cheryl Henson: Celebrating Jim Henson and the Art of Puppetry

Everyone knows The Muppet Shows, which for many years has attracted television viewers worldwide.
Festival of Wonder is pleased that we have succeeded in getting Cheryl Henson to tell about Jim Henson, The Muppet Shows father.

Cheryl Henson, daughter of Jim and Jane Henson and President of the Jim Henson Foundation, looks at her father’s contributions to the art of puppetry. From Sesame Street, The Muppet Show and Fraggle Rock, to The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and The Storyteller, Jim Henson’s creative imagination and enthusiasm for new technologies and collaborations expanded the use of puppets and brought his unique sense of humor and storytelling to audiences all around the world. Cheryl looks at Jim’s dedication to puppetry as an art form and his engagement with international puppeteers. Today, the Jim Henson Foundation continues its mission of supporting innovation in contemporary American puppetry. In addition, Jim Henson’s original puppets are on permanent exhibition at The Worlds of Puppetry Museum in Atlanta and at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York City and the Jim Henson Company continues to produce exciting new puppet productions in a range of styles and techniques.
