As hot as an oven
Uncomfortably hot
A glowing sea of sand
under the burning sun
Not a tree to give cooling shade
That is the desert of Libya
Androcles falters in bare feet on the hot sand
He groans of thirst and begs for water
But no one hears him
There is only sand and sand
Sand in the eyes and sand in the mouth
Sand everywhere
Androcles is a slave, sold to a Roman merchant. When he is accused of theft, he is forced to flee into the desert, under the burning sun, to escape from being thrown to the lions. Suddenly in the middle of the dark night, there is a roar so loud that Androcles’ heart freezes to ice.
The audience lies in hammocks under the fascinating sky and listens, sees and feels this wonderful old, mystical story. Dangerous and joyful – especially for children and adults.
