Through the years many exceptional Danish and international theatre groups have performed at Festival of Wonder: Silkeborg International Puppet Theatre Festival.
The festival present puppet, object and visual theatre for adults and for children.
Films and exhibitions, workshops, masterclasses and backstage talks are also important parts of the festival. The masterclasses and backstage talks have increased every year.
Our intention with the international theatre is to invite performances which have not previously been shown in Denmark and which add something new and inspiring to the art form of puppetry for the audience as well as the participating theatres. This is also true for the exhibitions, films and workshops, masterclasses and backstage talks we choose. That is why the artistic director is visiting international festivals around the year and she has seen all shows presented in the festival.
Danish and international theatre groups, performes more than 100 shows. There are performances in theatres, at the Paper Factory in general, in the cinema, on the streets, in the public schools and at many others venues.
The artistic director is following what is going on within Danish and international puppet-, object-, and visual theatre, and the profile of the festival will change as we learn of new ideas.
We want Festival of Wonder to be a meeting place for exchanging ideas. That goes for the Dansih and international theatres, the international festivaldirectors and the general audiences.
We are so happy for the great interest in the festival from both the audience and the participating theatres and the international festivaldirectors. We are also greatful for the backing by Silkeborg Kommune, Region Midtjylland and the Theatre Department of The Danish Artscounsil – as well as from other Danish and international sponsors.
Also the many local partners such as “The Kettle House”, Jysk Music Theatre, The Creative School, The Cultural House, Silkeborg Library, Bio Silkeborg, Silkeborg Business Collage, Museum Silkeborg, The ArtsCentre Silkeborg Spa and all public schools in Silkeborg Municipality are very important for the “life” of Festival of Wonder.
The festival is an important event for the city of Silkeborg. That is also why we present shows for all ages and performances etc. take place all over Silkeborg.
